Course Description
This
Lean Six Sigma Black Belt course is to develops and certifies the
in-depth knowledge and skills of a Six Sigma Black
Belt candidate. The course includes the advanced
methods, the inferential and relational statistics,
and the project management skills necessary to
improve cross-functional and organization-wide
processes. The course is characterized by
experiential learning, personalized labs,
skill-based training, practical statistics, 1:1
attention, and immediately usable decision trees and
job aides. Certification is based on project
simulation, in-class and between-week assignments,
and both knowledge-based and skill-based exams.

Training & Certification
Learning Six Sigma
doesn’t have to be a burden. Some suggest “to
learn” is our most basic human need. We strive
to develop courses so you have fun learning:
flinging, spinning, and conducting acts of
physical and mental creativity.
Certification as a Six Sigma Black Belt
Upon successful completion of all requirements
of this course, participants will receive a certificate
stating that he/she is a certified Six Sigma Black
Belt.

There is no examination
that needs to be
completed for Six Sigma
certification.

Instead, certification is achieved through the
successful completion of:
1. Classroom Training: The first step in a
participant's journey to certification is
instructor-led classroom training. Expert instructors,
each of whom is skilled in training all levels of Six
Sigma, conduct step-by-step learning with each
participant in a classroom setting. Participants can
enjoy and benefit from in-class discussions of
real-world experience, as well as break-out sessions
of individual and group labs. Participants will have
the added benefit of supplemental virtual sessions
between and after classroom sessions.
2. Take-Home Assignments: Students will be given a
series of assignments to complete on their own time
during and after the classroom training. Because our
goal is to train resourceful Green Belts, students are
allowed and encouraged to use any resources available
to them, including course notes, texts and other
books, Internet content and newsgroup sites and
mentors, including those provided by us.
3. Instructor-Led, Simulated Project: Students will complete a
Six Sigma project during the course as part of their
certification. Unlike other organizations, our model
does not require the student to select his or her own
project (as well as the corresponding approvals and
funding). Instead, all students are assigned a
simulated project, based on a real-live Six Sigma
project that was previously completed in the field.
This simulation "walks" the student through all the
steps of a real Six Sigma project without any of the
obstacles (e.g., the human factor, budgetary
cuts, leadership changes) that could greatly
complicate the first project and diminish its chances
of success
4. Mentorship: Although the first stages are vital,
the most important aspect of a participant's course
toward certification is the mentorship that they will
receive afterward. Through our mentors, participants
can overcome challenges and obstacles faced while they
are learning the theory and tools, working on
assignments and implementing the
DMAIC project. Our
mentors are experts in their respective fields, with
experience in many different fields, mentoring
participants during and after certification.

Training with JMP, Minitab or Excel
In addition to Green Belt training, participants will
learn and work with the industry's leading data
analysis software and process mapping tool (JMP,
Minitab or Excel.). We provide this hands-on training
because VRDS believes the best way to learn
something is to do it. By using these tools to
complete individual and group projects throughout
the course, participants learn theory, application
and software at the same time.

Prerequisites for the Six Sigma Black Belt Training
and Certification course
None for the full 4-week version, VRDS's
Green
Belt for the 2-week version.
